breckenridge gondola
town terminal plaza
breckenridge, colorado
In March 2006, Breckenridge Ski Resort (BSR) and the Town of Breckenridge authorities announced that construction on a new gondola would begin that spring. The gondola (now in-service) picks skiers up from town (at the parking lots south of City Market) and a mid station at Shock Hill, and drops them at both the Peak 7 and Peak 8 base areas.
BSR chose MSA to handle the architectural design and coordination work for the "Shop Building", to include a public plaza that connects to the Riverwalk and Transit Center, a shop building with ticket windows, offices, and service areas for gondola maintenance, and a future pavilion to enclose the gondola terminal - basically everything but the lift.
With the announcement in March and construction scheduled for spring, there wasn't much time to draw. MSA staff wasted no time and issued a permit set on 12 May 2006; construction was completed in late 2007
