woodward at copper
sustainable design review
copper mountain, colorado
Copper Mountain asked MSA to help them improve the sustainable design of a new indoor training facility, 'Woodward at Copper'. Copper and Intrawest Resorts set the goal to earn Green Globes certification on this project after design was well underway; MSA assisted the design team by reviewing options, highlighting opportunities for improvement, and helping navigate the Green Globes certification program.
MSA provided the team with recommendations that would ultimately help the project earn 2 Green Globes. Most notably, MSA studied the use of an energy recovery ventilation system that would increase energy efficiency of the facility by over 50%. The incorporation of this system along with the use of sustainable building materials, a recycled steel frame, and flyash concrete all contributed to the sustainable development of Woodward at Copper.
