during construction

what happens (to the architect) once the drawings are done?

good question. the answer is project-specific. we like to stay involved, because we have extensive experience with bidding, permitting, and construction which can benefit owners and their contractors. MSA proudly belongs to the minority of practicing architects who actually have worked on jobsites, respect contractors for their expertise, and understand the role of the architect during construction: to help get the project done, on time, on budget. Because of our field experience (and understanding of construction realities) we understand that many decisions which affect the final product have to be made in the field, quickly, and we prioritize projects under construction so that we can respond immediately when warranted.

Some clients will want to go their own way, and have the experience to successfully execute bidding, permitting, and construction without MSA (or consulting engineers) help. That's your call. We'll be here if you need us.
